Essex Pedal Power in Basildon

BasildonSource checked 12 August 2026Review by 12 November 2026Basildon

Free cycle training, repairs, rides and current bike opportunities for Basildon residents.

What the programme provides

Essex Pedal Power began by providing bikes and has developed into a wider community cycling programme. Basildon residents can use free cycle training, bike-maintenance sessions and repairs, and join social rides for beginner and intermediate riders.

Refurbished bikes may also be available, depending on supply, and the project offers volunteering opportunities.

Current Laindon bike offer

Active Essex says permanent Laindon residents can currently apply or be referred for adult or children’s bikes if they do not have access to a working bike and commit to riding regularly.

An eligible participant receives a six-month free loan with a helmet, lock, lights and high-visibility equipment. Regular users may then receive ownership at no cost. Different return arrangements apply when children outgrow a bike.

Check before applying

Eligibility and availability can change with funding. Read the current conditions on the official page. The EPP Basildon team also offers telephone support for people who need help with the online application.
