Essex County Council has committed £5 million towards an expansion of Stansted Airport College. The proposals could increase annual student numbers from 568 to around 1,350.

Plans include a two-storey building with 12 classrooms, an aircraft-hangar workshop and an Aerozone learning centre. These would support aviation, engineering and other technical learning.

The council’s September announcement says a planning application has been submitted. The expansion remains subject to approval, with the first phase expected in September 2027. Anyone considering a course should check the college’s current offer rather than assume the new places are available yet.
