Essex County Council announced extra checks at its 21 recycling centres on 1 October. Staff are checking for waste that comes from businesses.

The council says these centres are for household waste. Waste from a business, including one run from home, needs to be collected or disposed of through appropriate business arrangements. Staff may ask questions where they suspect a load is commercial waste.

Before making a trip, check what your chosen centre accepts. The council’s announcement links to Love Essex guidance for businesses, which explains how to arrange suitable waste disposal.
